Today, we continue March Madness.

  1. Seinfeld defeated Parks and Recreation (deftly, might I add) in the play-in, then turned around and ousted The UK Office from competition.
  2. Frasier, surprisingly, sneaked past M*A*S*H to reach the Final Four. This means Frasier will play Seinfeld in the next round. The winner will go to the championship game.
  3. The Simpsons had a sound victory over The American Office, which means they will play…
  4. Arrested Development, a show that avenged Community’s second round murder by South Park. Three #1 seeds have made it to the Final Four. Frasier is a #5 seed.

After years of rumours and an open denial from Will Ferrell, today, Paramount Pictures have given ‘Anchorman 2’ the thumbs up.

The announcement was made by Ferrell in character as Ron Burgandy on the TBS talk show ‘Conan’.

According to the Twitter account of Variety reporter Jeff Sneider several of the cast of the first film are set to officially return including Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner.

The film is being produced by Judd Apatow and most of the cast must be taking huge pay cuts to make the film considering that most of them are now big players compared to when ‘Anchorman’ was first released in 2004.

UPDATE

Adam McKay has confirmed he will direct ‘Anchorman 2’ via his Twitter account and that the script is currently being written with shooting starting in February 2013.

Stoners and serial movie quoters should rejoice at this news.

The inspiration for a film can come from anywhere. Theme park rides, board games and now add newspaper want ads to the list with the upcoming release of ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’.

The film stars Aubrey Plaza as a magazine intern who goes undercover to investigate a man (Mark Duplass) who placed an ad looking for a time-traveling partner.

The film is loosely based on the real want ad (see below) that was placed in a newspaper in 2005.

Filmdistrict has released the first trailer and a poster for the film.

The trailer looks great and the film has already received a lot of praise after playing at several film festivals.

Hit the jump the check out the trailer and the poster.

Today, we have some major results to reveal. Additionally, we have some Final Four deciding to do. See you Friday!

  1. Congrats to Frasier for defeating Fawlty Towers by one vote.
  2. Sorry to I Love Lucy, who would have defeated Fawlty Towers by a good margin, but lost to Frasier because Frasier was chosen to move on. (Vote margins: Lucy 59, Fawlty 41 … Frasier 53, Lucy 47.)
  3. Parks and Recreation (GO PAWNEE) and Seinfeld are tied with 11 votes apiece, so we’ll have to do this sort of play-in game again. Winner plays The Office (UK), so (not to editorialize) but this is for the Final Four, guys.
  4. The Simpsons trounced The Addams Family. Shocking. Speaking of shocking, The Simpsons will have to do battle with The Office (US) next, since it beat 30 Rock. No, it’s not shocking that it beat 30 Rock (although that is…

Super Troopers 2? Say what Meow. Looks like talks are going around from Actor and director Jay Chandrasekha about maybe another Super Troopers 2 as it looks like the script is written all ready.

Jay Chandrasekh:

“We’re hoping to make ‘Super Troopers 2′ eventually”. We’ve written the script and as soon as we figure out a little sort of legal thing with Fox, I think we’ll hopefully get a chance to make that.”

My Take: I say Go for it…. Loved the first one and would like to see where they can take it and how funny it could be.

Andy Watches Films

Plot
Hijackers (inc. John Travolta) take over a subway train in NY and their point of contact is a desk clerk called Walther Garber (Denzel Washington).

What went through my head
I do love a good bit of Denzel Washington you know. And to throw John Travolta into the mix was indeed a touch of genius. Pity this film is just a little too safe for its own good.

I mean, it’s chock full of good ingredients: it’s a remake of a successful film, it has Denzel Washington in, John Travolta is the bad guy, it’s stuffed full of awsome extras, Denzel Washington’s in it, it’s exciting, and Denzel Washington’s in it. And let’s be honest, Denzel’s appearance in a film is normally enough to make it good. This is no exception but I just wanted more.

Perhaps due to the fact that it’s a remake and in the years…

Today, we are left with 17. That’s right. Not 16, but 17. 15 sitcoms were eliminated last round, but Frasier vs. Fawlty Towers failed to yield a winner. So, we will redo that matchup without skipping a beat on the next round. Simply vote for either Frasier or Fawlty Towers in their own matchup, then vote in each of their matchups against I Love Lucy. If the results of the re-poll are still a tie, then the “vs. I Love Lucy” poll with the most participants will be the one counted. Make sense? No? Oh well.

Also… you guys knocked Community out in the last round. So whatever.

I agree with most of these, but I personally would rank Remember the Titans and Forrest Gump higher on my list, maybe in the top ten. Great list though!

Movie Blog

In honor of this film challenge, I decided it would be fun to list and rank my personal all time favorite movies. This was fun, but it was much harder than I thought.

I want you to first understand that this is MY All Time Favorite List! This means that you will probably not agree with some, any or all of it.

If it was the same as your films, it would be called Our All Time Favorite List.

The thing about a personal list is that you need a personal connection. It doesn’t necessarily mean they are the all time greatest movies ever. But that for some reason – Fun, Inspiration, Funny, Great Performance, or whatever the case may be – they really stayed with me.

There are a lot of movies made per year and only a few that even get nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. That does…

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim are the two guys behind Adult Swim‘s Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, the sketch comedy television series that ended its run a couple years ago. That show became a cult series, people either absolutely loving or hating the comedic stylings of this very bizarre duo; and the exact same thing can be said about Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie
